Closing date 9th September 2010. Open to Although priority will be given to SMEs and private beneficiaries, to all legal persons located in one of the following countries: 27 EU Member States + Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein + Albania, Croatia, former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Israel, Montenegro, Serbia and Turkey to 50 % of the total eligible costs.

3/10/2010 - Support to Human Rights Defenders

Closing date 3rd September. Open to NGO to up to 90 % of the total eligible costs. Assistance to human rights defenders under this Call will therefore have as main priorities:
1. To provide short and long-term direct financial, material and other forms of support and protection to human rights
2. To support and reinforce the capacities of human rights defenders, including those living in remote areas
3. To increase the awareness among defenders of international and regional mechanisms and instruments to protect human rights
4. To contribute to break the isolation and social exclusion of human rights defenders in their communities by sensitising national and international public opinion about their work and role

Closing date 30th September 2010. Open to research-performing SME to 75% of the total project costs. Eurostars project proposals will meet the following eligibility criteria:
•The leading R&D-performing SME is based in a Eurostars member country.
•The project proposal fulfils the EUREKA criteria.
•The R&D-performing SME(s) and other SME(s) fulfil(s) the European Union definition.
•Market introduction is foreseen within 2 years after the project has ended.
•R&D-performing SME(s) are undertaking at least 50% of the total R&D-related project costs.
•A well balanced partnership whereby no partner or country is performing more than 75% of the total project cost.

Objectives are:
a) to ensure a high level of consumer protection, notably through improved evidence, better consultation and better representation of consumers’ interests;
b) to ensure the effective application of consumer protection rules, in particular through enforcement cooperation, information, education and redress.

18.12.09 - MRRA Funds Measure 133

Information and promotion activities on food quality schemes.
This measure concerns agricultural food products which are intended for human consumption only. Promotion and information activities shall elucidate the specific characteristics and/or advantages of the product, notably the quality, specific production methods, high animal welfare standards and respect for the environment linked to the quality scheme concerned, and may include the dissemination of scientific and technical knowledge about these products.

18.12.09 - MRRA Funds Measure 142

Setting up of Producer Groups. Support under this measure is limited to cover the setting up and administrative operation of formally approved producer groups as well as the setting up of producer groups that bring together producers of a quality product that has been officially recognised in accordance to Community legislation or a national quality scheme.

18.12.09 - MRRA Funds Measure 132

Participation of farmers in food quality schemes.
Support provided under this Measure shall be limited to agricultural products intended for human consumption and recognised by either Community or National Food Quality Schemes. In the case of organic farming, support shall also be provided to products that are still in the period of conversion.

International Business Unit International Business Unit

The International Business Unit is responsible for foreign clients who find strategic interest in setting up in Malta and establishing themselves on the local Maltese markets in their own merit or with other local entities. The Business Development Unit targets both local and foreign companies and performs services on the lines of feasibility studies, Cost Benefit Analysis reporting, consultancy related to the internationalisation of local set ups, such as exporting, business and marketing plans and government incentives advice.

EU Funding Unit EU Funding Unit

The EU Funding Unit is responsible for advising local businesses and enterprises on tapping EU funds both of a structural nature and also those emanating directly from Brussels offices. The services of the EU Unit do not however stop here; we are also apt to pursue the project proposal submitted for acquiring these funds through its life cycle until the project is fully completed. The EU Unit aims to help local entities tap both Centralised Funding and Structural Funding opportunities.

Finance Unit

The Finance Unit specialises in advising the customer on financial and accounting issues, namely:

  • Accountancy Services;
  • Costings and Cost Reduction Services, including the preparation of quarterly Management Accounts and maintenance of accounting records/bookkeeping;
  • Payroll Bureau Services, including applications for work permit for EU citizens, registration and de-registration of foreign employees with the ETC and the Commissioner of Inland Revenue (CIR), preparation of month-end tax returns to the CIR in respect of employees, and the preparation of employees year-end tax returns to CIR
  • Tax Advisory, including the preparation and presentation of company Income Tax registration and the preparation of the Company’s tax return;
  • VAT Services, including the preparation and presentation of company VAT registration application and the preparation of quarterly VAT returns.
